We trek in the shadow of mighty Kibo towards Lava Tower. In the afternoon our path takes us downhill through increasingly moonlike landscape with unusual trees and plants. The descent helps acclimatize to the changing altitude. We reach camp late in the afternoon. It’s picturesque with hundreds of flowering bushes and we can already see our challenge for the day ahead - Barranco Wall! It doesn’t look too bad, but we will soon learn otherwise. It is the first time we meet all our rafikis, who are usually busy behind the scenes. Unexpectedly, they had prepared a song and dance for us. Amazing guys! We catch dinner (cumber soup, rice and veggie stew) and sort out our gear before night falls.
