"Day 6 of Speedy’s charity challenge. We made it!! To donate, please click here: https://my.wfpaltruist.org/pfp/SpeedygoesKilimanjaro “As the sun comes up, I check the view for a spilt second, but all I can think is “onwards”! Now we can see the top, but it takes us another hour and a half to reach it. Our ingenious rafikis have hot tea ready waiting for us! After a quick photo opportunity at Stella Point, we continue on towards Uhuru Peak – the true summit and highest point on the African continent at 5896 meters! The morning sunlight gives spectacular views across the glacier, the plains below and Mount Meru. We are almost on top of the world! We made it!!!!! But there is no energy left to do a victory dance. Soon enough it’s time to go back down. Millennium Camp at 3,000 meters is our last night’s camp on the mountain. At this point we’ve been on our feet for well over 24 hours and have another 3 hours hike ahead of us. Back down at Millennium Camp the sun is shining, trees are green, the peak lies a million miles away behind us and food is waiting! Ah, this is the life!” Start height: 4608m, Day distance: 17km, Max height: 5896m, Total distance: 56.4km, End height: 3112m, 15 hours of trekking #speedy #audi #charity #worldfood #sport #instagood #photooftheday #instattravel #follow #like #adventure #kilimanjaro #africa"
